Equine Facilitated Learning

Presented in partnership with the Center for Equine Awareness and Kate Hestwood LCSW LLC

What is EFL?

Equine Facilitated Learning is a form of equine therapy geared towards helping humans via psychotherapeutic methods. Our equine partners are naturally adept at holding space for us to process and experience in ways that we otherwise would not be able to. Horses’ large limbic systems allow them to reveal physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves that we typically struggle to see. In EFL, facilitator’s role is to help the client explore this sacred space through skillful guidance and increased awareness.

Who is EFL for?

EFL is for humans of all ages and backgrounds. Clients do not need to come from an equine background and while it is preferred that they are referred by their mental health professional, it is not required. We have partnered with licensed therapists in the valley to make sure your mental health needs are met, no matter the situation.

How does EFL help?

Equine Facilitated Learning can help clients explore anything from traumatic experiences to communication habits, healthy boundaries, or deepening your connection with horses. Whether you’re looking to improve your everyday quality of life or accomplish more in the show ring, you may be surprised at what EFL can do for you.
